October Principal Read Aloud

Today, the Saw Mill community gathered for the October Principal Read-Aloud Assemblies. For the Grades K-3 assembly we focused on the theme of friendship.  We asked the students "Why do you come to school?"  Among the answers of "getting smarter" and "learning" there was the answer of "making friends"- BINGO!  Through a shared reading of the delightful book Stick and Stone we explored the joy of making friends.  We hope your child's school experience includes the joy of friendship!

Did you know that today is Mahatma Gandhi's birthday?  In the Grades 4-6 assembly we watched a short historical video about the life and impact of Gandhi and then shared a reading of the book Be the Change.  This story was written by Gandhi's grandson and it shares the impact of Gandhi's message on a child.  Mr. Madden shared the following quote from Gandhi " "In a gentle way, you can shake the world."  Here's to all us us gently shaking the world in a positive way!
