Today, the Saw Mill community gathered for the May Principal Read-Aloud Assemblies. We shared with the students that next week is Teacher Appreciation Week. We used our shared time to reflect on the power and impact that teachers have in our lives. With grades K-3 we shared the book Because I Had A Teacher by Kobi Yamada. We even gave the teachers a standing ovation. A quote from the book "Because I had you, I learned to believe in me." Next week (and every week) we celebrate all of the teachers who help the Saw Mill Road students.

For grades 4-6, we read A Letter To My Teacher by Deborah Hopkinson. This touching book shares a reflection on the impact that an elementary school teacher had on the narrator's life. A quote that we shared with the students "The influence of a good teacher can never be erased." As we head into Teacher Appreciation Week, here's to the wonderful Saw Mill Road teachers who put their heart into their work to help lift the children, each and every day!
